What Happens When You Actually Let Go?

Let’s be honest:
Surrender sounds holy — until you’re staring at a bank account, a broken plan, or a future that feels unclear.

I used to talk about surrender.
But when God actually invited me to release something I thought I needed…
I resisted.

I was afraid of what I’d lose.
Afraid I’d be irresponsible.
Afraid I’d fall.

But what I’ve discovered is this:
True surrender doesn’t leave you empty.
It makes room for what you couldn’t access while your hands were full.

What I Had to Let Go Of

Over the past few years, I’ve had to let go of:

  • A business model that no longer fit
  • A job that once provided security
  • A sense of control over “what’s next”
  • Even good ideas that weren’t God’s best

Each release felt like a small death.
But each one led to greater clarity.
Greater peace.
And a deeper sense of purpose than I could’ve architected on my own.

What I Gained Instead

In that space…
God filled the gaps with His presence.
He reordered my steps.
He restored dreams I thought were lost — just in a different form.

I didn’t lose.
I gained what mattered most.

The Invitation

“Whoever loses their life for My sake will find it.” — Matthew 10:39

That’s not just theology. It’s real.

Surrender isn’t the end.
It’s the beginning of a new way.
A better rhythm.
A quieter strength.

What might be possible if you loosened your grip?
